Charlotte Brontë - Parting

Charlotte Brontë - Parting

THERE'S no use in weeping, br Though we are condemned to part: br There's such a thing as keeping br A remembrance in one's heart: br br There's such a thing as dwelling br On the thought ourselves have nurs'd, br And with scorn and courage telling br The world to do its worst. br br We'll not let its follies grieve us, br We'll just take them as they come; br And then every day will leave us br A merry laugh for home. br br When we've left each friend and brother, br When we're parted wide and far, br We will think of one another, br As even better than we are. br br Every glorious sight above us, br Every pleasant sight beneath, br We'll connect with those that love us, br Whom we truly love till death ! br br In the evening, when we're sitting br By the fire perchance alone, br Then shall heart with warm heart meeting, br Give responsive tone for tone. br br We can burst the bonds which chain us, br Which cold human hands have wrought, br And where none shall dare restrain us br We can meet again, in thought.
