William Butler Yeats - Crazy Jane On The Mountain

William Butler Yeats - Crazy Jane On The Mountain

I AM tired of cursing the Bishop, br (Said Crazy Jane) br Nine books or nine hats br Would not make him a man. br I have found something worse br To meditate on. br A King had some beautiful cousins. br But where are they gone? br Battered to death in a cellar, br And he stuck to his throne. br Last night I lay on the mountain. br (Said Crazy Jane) br There in a two-horsed carriage br That on two wheels ran br Great-bladdered Emer sat. br Her violent man br Cuchulain sat at her side; br Thereupon' br Propped upon my two knees, br I kissed a stone br I lay stretched out in the dirt br And I cried tears down.
