Robert Herrick - UPON TIME

Robert Herrick - UPON TIME

Time was upon br The wing, to fly away; br And I call'd on br Him but awhile to stay; br But he'd be gone, br For aught that I could say. br br He held out then br A writing, as he went, br And ask'd me, when br False man would be content br To pay again br What God and Nature lent. br br An hour-glass, br In which were sands but few, br As he did pass, br He shew'd,--and told me too br Mine end near was;-- br And so away he flew.
