Ernest Christopher Dowson - In a Breton Cemetery

They sleep well here, br These fisher-folk who passed their anxious days br In fierce Atlantic ways; br And found not there, br Beneath the long curled wave, br So quiet a grave. br br And they sleep well, br These peasant-folk, who told their lives away, br From day to market-day, br As one should tell, br With patient industry, br Some sad old rosary. br br And now night falls, br Me, tempest-tost, and driven from pillar to post, br A poor worn ghost, br This quiet pasture calls; br And dear dead people with pale hands br Beckon me to their lands.
