Anne Brontë - Confidence

Anne Brontë - Confidence

Oppressed with sin and woe, br A burdened heart I bear, br Opposed by many a mighty foe: br But I will not despair. br With this polluted heart br I dare to come to Thee, br Holy and mighty as Thou art; br For Thou wilt pardon me. br br I feel that I am weak, br And prone to every sin: br But Thou who giv'st to those who seek, br Wilt give me strength within. br br Far as this earth may be br From yonder starry skies; br Remoter still am I from Thee: br Yet Thou wilt not despise. br br I need not fear my foes, br I need not yield to care, br I need not sink beneath my woes: br For Thou wilt answer prayer. br br In my Redeemer's name, br I give myself to Thee; br And all unworthy as I am br My God will cherish me.
