Bess Huber - Blackie

Bess Huber - Blackie

Long time ago I had a dog br Part spaniel and part chow br She chased the mailman, nipped his heels- br The things you can't allow. I drove her to a country farm br And gave her to a boy; br There's nothing else that I could do. br She could not there annoy. Tied to a tree she strained her leash, br Her eyes were moist and sad. br I could not drive I could not see br Through tears, I felt so bad. Time eased my heart and guilt somewhat br She grew from just a pup. br The boy and dog became as one br And soon they both grew up! Tollage of the Soul Be quiet my troubled heart br and leave my mind at ease. br I must not let my tears and fears br run rampant as they please The years take tollage of the soul br for strength and courage wane. br The efforts spent through fleeting time br so often end in vain.
