Louis Richardson - A Deserted Citizen

Louis Richardson - A Deserted Citizen

Out in the open air br Without a place to br Rest his poor head, br Lies stiff and cold on a pavement br Another deserted citizen. br What the future holds br Is of great interest to him, br Can tomorrow bring him br The success he is awaiting, br When darkness vanishes away? br All this holds the interest br Of a deserted citizen. br Sometimes for an hour or two br He allows his thoughts to slip from him, br Only to find himself br In the noise and bustle, br Of busy daily shoppers. br Not even the smallest child br Will lend a listening ear, br Or the wealthiest man br Will loan a tiny sum, br To put things together br No one cares about his welfare. br Well! such poor folks like him br Are very sad to see, br Perhaps, he made his bed this way br So no one can be blamed, br But regardless of his error br He should not be treated so. br Of course a house is built br House many like him but who will br Take his sorrow such answers are left to be had, br The only time he might be remembered br Is when death comes his way.
