Walter de la Mare - The Song of Finis

Walter de la Mare - The Song of Finis

At the edge of All the Ages br A Knight sate on his steed, br His armor red and thin with rust br His soul from sorrow freed; br And he lifted up his visor br From a face of skin and bone, br And his horse turned head and whinnied br As the twain stood there alone. br br No bird above that steep of time br Sang of a livelong quest; br No wind breathed, br Rest: br "Lone for an end!" cried Knight to steed, br Loosed an eager rein-- br Charged with his challenge into space: br And quiet did quiet remain.
