Walter de la Mare - Bones

Said Mr. Smith, “I really cannot br Tell you, Dr. Jones— br The most peculiar pain I’m in— br I think it’s in my bones.” br br Said Dr. Jones, “Oh, Mr. Smith, br That’s nothing. Without doubt br We have a simple cure for that; br It is to take them out.” br br He laid forthwith poor Mr. Smith br Close-clamped upon the table, br And, cold as stone, took out his bones br As fast as he was able. br br Smith said, “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” br And wished him a good-day; br And with his parcel ‘neath his arm br He slowly moved away.
