Oscar Wilde - Les Ballons

Oscar Wilde - Les Ballons

Against these turbid turquoise skies br The light and luminous balloons br Dip and drift like satin moons br Drift like silken butterflies; br br Reel with every windy gust, br Rise and reel like dancing girls, br Float like strange transparent pearls, br Fall and float like silver dust. br br Now to the low leaves they cling, br Each with coy fantastic pose, br Each a petal of a rose br Straining at a gossamer string. br br Then to the tall trees they climb, br Like thin globes of amethyst, br Wandering opals keeping tryst br With the rubies of the lime.
