John Hegley - The Death of a Scoutmaster

John Hegley - The Death of a Scoutmaster

how I remember the old scoutmaster br nobody could start a camp-fire faster br I can see the old scoutmaster in the old scout hut br saying always carry a plaster br in case you cut yourself br if it doesn't happen to you it could happen to your br dog br you could be chopping up the firewood br when you mistake him for a log br if it doesn't happen to your dog br it could happen to your glasses br they could be knocked to the floor br by the long arm of the law br when you're standing on the corner br and a copper on a push-bike signalling a left turn br passes by br if it's a friend you need you need a friend indeed br you need a plaster br you need your money and your keys br but more than these you need a plaster br always carry a plaster the scoutmaster told us br they found one in his pocket br the day a bus ran over him.
