William Butler Yeats - Young Man's Song

William Butler Yeats - Young Man's Song

'She will change,' I cried. br 'Into a withered crone.' br The heart in my side, br That so still had lain, br In noble rage replied br And beat upon the bone: br br 'Uplift those eyes and throw br Those glances unafraid: br She would as bravely show br Did all the fabric fade; br No withered crone I saw br Before the world was made.' br br Abashed by that report, br For the heart cannot lie, br I knelt in the dirt. br And all shall bend the knee br To my offended heart br Until it pardon me.
