Sir Philip Sidney - Sonnet LXXXIV: Highway

Sir Philip Sidney - Sonnet LXXXIV: Highway

Highway, since you my chief Parnassus be, br And that my Muse, to some ears not unsweet, br Tempers her words to trampling horses' feet br More oft than to a chamber melody. br Now, blessed you bear onward blessed me br To her, where I my heart, safe-left, shall meet: br My Muse and I must you of duty greet br With thanks and wishes, wishing thankfully. br Be you still fair, honour'd by public heed; br By no encroachment wrong'd, nor time forgot, br Nor blam'd for blood, nor sham'd for sinful deed; br And that you know I envy you no lot br Of highest wish, I wish you so much bliss,-- br Hundreds of years you Stella's feet may kiss.
