Frederick George Scott - We Hail Thee Now, O Jesus

Frederick George Scott - We Hail Thee Now, O Jesus

We hail thee now, O Jesus, br thy presence here we own, br though sight and touch have failed us, br and faith perceives alone; br thy love has veiled thy glory; br and hid thy power divine, br in mercy to our weakness, br beneath an earthly sign. br br We hail thee now, O Jesus, br in silence hast thou come, br for all the hosts of heaven br with wonderment are dumb: br so great the condescension, br so marvelous the love, br which for our sakes, O Savior, br have drawn thee from above. br br We hail thee now, O Jesus, br for law and type have ceased, br and thou in each Communion br art Sacrifice and Priest; br we make this great memorial br in union, Lord, with thee, br and plead thy death and passion br to cleanse and set us free. br br We hail thee now, O Jesus, br for death is drawing near, br and in thy presence only br its terrors disappear; br dwell with us, sweetest Savior, br and guide us through the night, br till shadows end in glory, br and faith be lost in sight.
