Mary Darby Robinson - Sonnet XXXVIII: Oh Sigh

Mary Darby Robinson - Sonnet XXXVIII: Oh Sigh

Oh Sigh! thou steal'st, the herald of the breast, br The lover's fears, the lover's pangs to tell; br Thou bid'st with timid grace the bosom swell, br Cheating the day of joy, the night of rest! br Oh! lucid Tears! with eloquence confest, br Why on my fading cheek unheeded dwell, br Meek, as the dew-drops on the flowret's bell br By ruthless tempests to the green-sod prest.
