Lucy Maud Montgomery - Morning along Shore

Lucy Maud Montgomery - Morning along Shore

Hark, oh hark the elfin laughter br All the little waves along, br As if echoes speeding after br Mocked a merry merman's song! br br All the gulls are out, delighting br In a wild, uncharted quest br See the first red sunshine smiting br Silver sheen of wing and breast! br br Ho, the sunrise rainbow-hearted br Steals athwart the misty brine, br And the sky where clouds have parted br Is a bowl of amber wine! br br Sweet, its cradle-lilt partaking, br Dreams that hover o'er the sea, br But the lyric of its waking br Is a sweeter thing to me! br br Who would drowze in dull devotion br To his ease when dark is done, br And upon its breast the ocean br Like a jewel wears the sun? br br "Up, forsake a lazy pillow!" br Calls the sea from cleft and cave, br Ho, for antic wind and billow br When the morn is on the wave!br br Lucy Maud Montgomerybr br
