John Fletcher - Love's Emblems

John Fletcher - Love's Emblems

NOW the lusty spring is seen; br    Golden yellow, gaudy blue, br    Daintily invite the view: br Everywhere on every green br Roses blushing as they blow, br    And enticing men to pull, br Lilies whiter than the snow, br    Woodbines of sweet honey full: br    All love's emblems, and all cry, br    'Ladies, if not pluck'd, we die.' br br Yet the lusty spring hath stay'd; br    Blushing red and purest white br    Daintily to love invite br Every woman, every maid: br Cherries kissing as they grow, br    And inviting men to taste, br Apples even ripe below, br    Winding gently to the waist: br    All love's emblems, and all cry, br    'Ladies, if not pluck'd, we die.
