Thomas Lux - He Has Lived In Many Houses

Thomas Lux - He Has Lived In Many Houses

furnished rooms, flats, a hayloft, br a tent, motels, under a table, br under an overturned rowboat, in a villa (briefly) but not, br as yet, a yurt. In these places br he has slept, eaten, br put his forehead to the window glass, br looking out. He's in a stilt-house now, br the water passing beneath him half the day; br the other half it's mud. The tides br do this: they come, they go, br while he sleeps, eats, puts his forehead br to the window glass. br He's moving soon: his trailer to a trailer park, br or to the priory to live among the penitents br but in his own cell, br with wheels, to take him, when it's time br to go, to: boathouse, houseboat br with a little motor, putt-putt, br to take him across the sea br or down the river br where at night, anchored by a sandbar br at the bend, br he will eat, sleep, and press his eyelids br to the window br of the pilothouse br until the anchor-hauling hour br when he'll embark again br toward his sanctuary, harborage, saltbox, br home.
