Robert William Service - Miracles

Each time that I switch on the light br A Miracle it seems to me br That I should rediscover sight br And banish dark so utterly. br One moment I am bleakly blind, br The next--exultant life I find. br br Below the sable of the sky br My eyelids double darkness make. br Sleep is divine, yet oh how I br Am glad with wonder to awake! br To welcome, glimmery and wan br The mighty Miracle of Dawn. br br For I've mad moments when I seem, br With all the marvel of a child, br To dwell within a world of dream, br To sober fact unreconciled. br Each simple act has struck me thus-- br Incredibly miraculous. br br When everything I see and do br So magical can seem to me, br How vain it is to seek the True, br The riddle of Reality . . .
