Gary Snyder - December At Yase

Gary Snyder - December At Yase

You said, that October, br In the tall dry grass by the orchard br When you chose to be free, br "Again someday, maybe ten years." br br After college I saw you br One time. You were strange, br And I was obsessed with a plan. br br Now ten years and more have br Gone by: I've always known br where you were— br I might have gone to you br Hoping to win your love back. br You still are single. br br I didn't. br I thought I must make it alone. I br Have done that. br br Only in dream, like this dawn, br Does the grave, awed intensity br Of our young love br Return to my mind, to my flesh. br br We had what the others br All crave and seek for; br We left it behind at nineteen. br br I feel ancient, as though I had br Lived many lives. br br And may never now know br If I am a fool br Or have done what my br karma demands. br br br Anonymous submission.
