Carol D. Meeks - Tis Thanksgiving

Carol D. Meeks - Tis Thanksgiving

My eyes viewed br The sea of Autumn br That lay before us, br And I pondered the hearts br Of the first Pilgrims. br br Surely, they must have stopped br All their busys and chatter, br Their new adventures and clatter, br To give thanks for safety br And the magnificence br Of Autumn’s attire. br br The crimson, golden glistening br Of the Cottonwoods and Aspens br Glow and shimmer br Their skirts of leaves br Before their last hurrah br And Winter’s barren slumber. br br The golds, the reds, the yellows br As diamonds; br Wave this time of year, br As beautiful then, as now. br br And the harvest, br So delicious; br As the season’s beauty. br br Beauty all around br For all eyes to see, this majesty. br Beauty all around br As much as the sand upon the sea. br What perfect peace, br This Autumnal harmony. br br And we give thanks br Upon America’s banks.br br Carol D.
