FLOURISH greener, as ye clamber, br Oh ye leaves, to seek my chamber, br br Up the trellis'd vine on high! br May ye swell, twin-berries tender, br Juicier far,--and with more splendour br br Ripen, and more speedily! br O'er ye broods the sun at even br As he sinks to rest, and heaven br br Softly breathes into your ear br All its fertilising fullness, br While the moon's refreshing coolness, br br Magic-laden, hovers near; br And, alas! ye're watered ever br br By a stream of tears that rill br From mine eyes--tears ceasing never, br br Tears of love that nought can still!br br Johann Wolfgang von Goethebr br
