Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - On The Lake

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - On The Lake

I DRINK fresh nourishment, new blood br br From out this world more free; br The Nature is so kind and good br br That to her breast clasps me! br The billows toss our bark on high, br br And with our oars keep time, br While cloudy mountains tow'rd the sky br br Before our progress climb. br br Say, mine eye, why sink'st thou down? br Golden visions, are ye flown? br br Hence, thou dream, tho' golden-twin'd; br br Here, too, love and life I find. br br Over the waters are blinking br br Many a thousand fair star; br Gentle mists are drinking br br Round the horizon afar. br Round the shady creek lightly br br Morning zephyrs awake, br And the ripen'd fruit brightly br br Mirrors itself in the lake.
