Clarence Michael James Stanislaus Dennis - Our Street

Clarence Michael James Stanislaus Dennis - Our Street

In our street, the main street br Running thro' the town, br You see a lot of busy folk br Going up and down: br br Bag men and basket men, br Men with loads of hay, br Buying things and selling things br And carting things away. br br The butcher is a funny man, br He calls me Dandy Dick; br The baker is a cross man, br I think he's often sick; br br The fruiterer's a nice man, br He gives me apples, too; br The grocer says, "Good morning, boy, br What can I do for you?" br br Of all the men in our street br I like the cobbler best, br Tapping, tapping at his last br Without a minute's rest; br br Talking all the time he taps, br Driving in the nails, br Smiling with his old grey eyes - br (Hush) ... telling fairy tales.
