Thomas Bailey Aldrich - After the Rain

Thomas Bailey Aldrich - After the Rain

THE rain has ceased, and in my room br The sunshine pours an airy flood; br And on the church's dizzy vane br The ancient cross is bathed in blood. br From out the dripping ivy leaves, br Antiquely carven, gray and high, br A dormer, facing westward, looks br Upon the village like an eye. br And now it glimmers in the sun, br A globe of gold, a disk, a speck; br And in the belfry sits a dove br With purple ripples on her neck.
