Pete Crowther - A Surprise Visit

Pete Crowther - A Surprise Visit

At four o’clock she knocked at the door br I’d never seen a goddess before. br She wore a dress of shimmering light br Around her waist a cord drawn tight. br br Upon her head a crescent moon br (Not quite the thing for the afternoon) br And strangest yet a pair of horns br Such as you’d see on elves and fauns. br br Her eyes below that rounded brow br Reminded me of a Jersey cow. br Those features soft and feminine br Demanded that I let her in. br br She’d come to us with a tale of woe br Her car had stalled and would not go. br She had a meeting with Thoth and Isis br And other immortals, but now this crisis! br br She’d lent her mobile to Father Ra br So was not able to phone the AA. br Her eyes began to fill with tears br As she recounted all her fears. br br I calmed her down with a cup of tea br And let her use the phone for free— br Not much I know, I would’ve done more br For not everyone gets to help Hathor.
