James Grengs - (12) - Lament For The Dead

She walked, once, in the light. br Life, br Joy, br Love. br No more- br The unspeakable darkness br Has changed her. br Now, she who once was the light br Is darkness. br She is consumed by her change. br She is dead, br Gone to the depths br Of the darkness of eternity, br Waking dead. br Her smile is gone, br Her laugh silent, br The warmth of her arms br Grown cold. br She once lived in the day, br Now the night. br -Night, her protection, br Her new hope, br Her only hope. br br He -her new enemy- remembers br Her life, br And mourns her change. br He cries, alone, br Longing to hear her laugh. br But he only sees her, silent. br He is haunted, having seen her: br He knows now that she exists, br Dead, br But not dead. br He mourns, fearing her. br -She, once a beautiful dream, is become br The stuff of nightmares.- br He knows, too, the task before him: br Kill, destroy, end. br She is begun on a terrible path, br Which only he can save her from, br So losing her forever. br -There is a different abyss, darker and more terrible, br Reserved for the souls of the waking dead.- br He hates himself, knowing the fate she faces, br Yet being unable to save her from it. br br For an instant, br A thought enters his mind: br Join her. br He knows well the method, br Having fought so long br In the twilight. br But no- he knows too the torment br Of the soul trapped in the dead. br There is no escaping her fate, or his- br He must do his task, br Though he knows the consequences on his heart, br His being. br The Hunter br -Nemesis- br Laments his dead, br Changed. br Vengeance -his goal- burns.
