We are hoping for fog br and a moonless night. br Approaching the border to br the West and its freedom, br we begin to get scared. br There are shadows, br some moving. br And sinister shapes br are probably hidden br and waiting to pounce. br The river looks hostile br and cold, uninviting. br But, strangely, br must be br full of promise. br Freedom for sale, br or just for the asking? br The plunge may just be br the final splash br of a tortured soul. br The danger has passed, br the landing subdued. br What we just have done br deserves admiration. br Yet we're only wondering br why the mountain, br thus conquered br appears now so small.
