Amberlee Carter - planting seeds

kneeling between the corn-rows br I heard you br speak to God br as though br He might be listening, br willing to interrupt br this spiritual starvation br br br unaware that I had followed you br faithfully br as so many times before br to which I had vowed br I'd wait no more br br the summer went br in one day br and suffered the night br to steal shine br from a distant bay br br still I knelt between the rows br in faith br that you were br mind enough to listen br if br God should actually speak br upon this humble existence br you believed br and I conceived br within me, a child br that was not of blood and bone br but of hope- br br and he clung to my insides br like a disease br and all I wanted br was to believe br that war would end br br the need br for your fasting- br your faithful praying br br br then instead you could walk br with God in your garden br and forget of kneeling br br between the musky stalks br all summer long br hands and head bent in respect br for a Christ who was still dyingbr br Amberlee Carterbr br
