Bill Simmons - The Cowboy

Bill Simmons - The Cowboy

Down at the corner br Standing near the street br A cowboy lights his cigarette br With his hound at his feet br br He is waiting for the bus to come br He has been there a while br I walk over to him br He greets me with a smile br br I said sir, How have you been br He said, Let me tell you sir br I've been in the prairies br Tending cattle and the herds br br Not a day or nights gone by br That I haven't thought of her br Today she will be on that bus br Today I'll be hers br br I tended cattle br I sang them all to sleep br But beneath the stars each night br She was always in my dreams br br Today she comes to me br And I'll make real my dreams br Then the bus pulled up and it stopped br In front of him and me br br A girl steps out and I say br She is a pretty thing at that br He walks over to her br He removes his hat br br He says, I've been in the prairies br Tending cattle in the fields br I have faced the weather br I chased them in the hills br br Not a day or nights gone by br That you weren't on my mind br If you choose to put on this ring br Forever you'll be mine br br She puts her arms around him br Her eyes open wide br She said, I do love you br As the tears fell from her eyes br br They then walked away br Being followed by that hound br But I remember well that day br For his words still hang around br br I've been in the prairies br Tending cattle and the herds br Everynight they were sang to sleep br But he always thought of her.
