Gillian.E. Shaw - Out in France

Gillian.E. Shaw - Out in France

There was no compensation br for the soldiers of The Great War: br Returning, they got on with life br there was really nothing more. br For they didn't speak about it br neither moan, complain nor dwell br because they were the victors br and had survived 'Bloody Hell! ' br br So many of them went out there br a generation gave their youth br fighting side by side to victory br oblivious of the truth: br So... let us not forget them br Britain's finest and her best br that we could see a better day br fulfillment of their quest. br br I wonder if you can name them? br Those from your family br who fought in the mud whilst serving br their King and country: br For innocence is but fleeting br and a lot of time has passed br as they faced that hell together br in the trenches, out in France. br br For Lynne Burrows br br France br November 2003br br Gillian.E.
