Paul Lester - Be Kind To Worms' Week

Paul Lester - Be Kind To Worms' Week

Everybody get your feet off the ground br Wherever on earth your feet are bound, br For beneath you the worms are moving around. br br There is a slogan the whole world will speak - br The Greek, the Sikh, and in Mozambique br They'll declare a 'Be Kind To Worms' Week. br br For remember that worms are just like you, br So many cells and so much glue, br Except they can't chop you in two. br br Nevertheless, we must confess, br A 'Be Kind To Worms' Week' could be quite a success, br The start of something big, a Worm Party Congress. br br Comrade Worm upon the stage, br Long and slippery, a faceless sage, br Will proclaim the coming of a New Worm Age. br br All the populace will be aghast br At this glorious saviour come at last br To preach the doctrine of the Great Worm Caste. br br A Worm Party just has to win; br They get right to you if you're fat or thin br Since we have to have something to get buried in. br br You could almost say worms are profound br Since you're never quite sure where they'll be found, br In a pile of manure or in consecrated ground. br br You could almost say worms are sublime br Since they've never been guilty of a serious crime, br Though they slither through slime and dirt most of the time br br No more a bait for the fisherman's lie br Or trapped in puddles and left to die, br No more a treat for the beasts that fly; br br They will come, their destinies to seek, br Out of their earthly homes the worms will sneak br To celebrate 'Be Kind To Worms' Week'. br br So forsake your shovels, no trampling on the lawn, br Wormkind badges compulsorily worn, br The Worms' Turn cometh with the Worm Dawn.
