Albert Gazeley - Dear Reader

Albert Gazeley - Dear Reader

You were the missing piece of my rhyme br Thank God that you have arrived in time br Without you I would be locked here on the page br I’ve waited for you for what seemed an age br br For days I’ve felt like a Genie in a lamp br In a sort of literary concentration camp br All I could do was question why br Then suddenly you happened by br br Well dear friend, let us off to exotic lands br With pyramids and peacock fans br I’ll sit you on cushions made from purple silk br Serve you hobgoblin cake and camel milk br br Yes, through the windows of my rhyme br I can take you back through space and time br To Scottish Castles and Pixie bowers br Where we can roam for endless hours br br We can travel along China’s great “Silk Road” br Or we conjure up Ratty, Mole and Mr Toad br I can rocket you up to the moon - if you agree br And I’ll still have you back in time for tea br br The mind can do such wondrous things br It can fly us to heaven on angel wings br Yes, for you and I there is no limit br If I have your attention - for just a minute br br But when your consciousness is gone br Then my whole world won’t last long br My trigger to your thoughts will disappear br And I could be abandoned - for a year! br br Remember, me and my kind br Can bring you peace and love br Help convey a message to your God above br With my inducement your mind can fly br And things like loneliness just pass on by br br So dear reader - please don’t go br It’s you that gives me life you know br Who knows when others will find this rhyme? br So please will you read me - one more timebr br Albert Gazeleybr br
