Seán O Muiríosa - The Visiting Hours

Seán O Muiríosa - The Visiting Hours

I visited your grey face today. br Your not well, old friend, not well. br They say it’s spreading swiftly br Through your every curve and bend, br I examined you myself with cruel eyes br The world will never be able to mend. br You’ve changed all right. br What caused it? br All those years of over indulgence? br Should have seen it coming? br Well, perhaps… br Though it was bound to build up br And up and up and out. br I fear for you dear, alone and isolated br Out here on the west. br I had to leave you then br Like they soon will. br They said you needed to rest. br br Outside, just beyond your stare br Yellow and orange daffodils grew br And fluttered in the long grass. br They used to be your favourites. br Mine too.
