Scarborough Gypsy - Lullaby

Scarborough Gypsy - Lullaby

Unamused at being put to bed br He struggles loudly, br Unwilling to sleep br Bribery must be my option br br “Lay down and let me sing to you” br He complies with my request br Reluctantly br br Blonde curls caress his pillow br I start to pat him gently br As I sing……………….. br br “Golden slumbers kiss your eyes br Smiles await you when you rise br Sleep little darling do not cry br And I shall sing a lullaby” br br Long lashes blink, br Impending sleep br while I continue to repeat br the verse br My back protests br while crouching over him br br I watch intensely br He fights the heaviness of lids br But keeps perfectly still br Until he can't fight any longer br And gives in with a sigh.
