Herbert Nehrlich - Cat Among The Pigeons

An alley cat with scruffy hair br got into the old pigeon house. br And all it wanted was its share br of pigeon meat, because a mouse br was such a bore and pretty small br variety, the spice of life br would play, exceedingly, a role br for this gray cat and for his wife. br The pigeons flew in all directions br some crashed like Kamakazi fliers br the cat cleaned up the closest section br and then returned to the home fires. br Revenge was planned by all the birds br as word got 'round about the raid br it was decided that with words br one could not sway a cat who made br these trips to be a connoisseur. br So they enlisted Mr. Eagle br who was so strong that they were sure, br that with some luck they could sweneagle br a devastating end for cats br so fifteen small birds were procured br from within ranks of ugly bats br whose parents had been well assured br that their excursion would be fun, br of course they were the Eagle's fee br when he would fly in with the sun br to maim and kill and set them free. br br That's how it went, the eagle came br swooped down from lofty heights at speed br and knocked not only out his frame br but heart and lungs which cat did need br . br The end of cat was rather swift br he never did another raid br the eagle got his batty gift br and pigeons were no more afraid. br But on the Monday of that week br there was a storm, it seems, severe, br the cat's own spouse, just like a freak br killed all of them, oh dear oh dear.
