maggie signaigo - Plastic Trees

'I think that I shall never see br a poem as lovely as a tree'? br 'Poems are made by fools like me br but only God can make a tree'? br Clever words for on a 'fridge br has Joyce Kilmer ever been to Garden Ridge? br I see trees there...kinda made of wood br but plastic leaves...they don't look so good. br br At first I was fooled...maybe like a mirage br but no...this was made in someone's garage br Representative i guess of the world today br the lifestyle we live...and what we portray br A 'fast lane' culture...full of shortcuts br the tree is fake like so many of us br We want things now...why should we wait? br Make it happen...forget about fate br br Joyce Kilmer's poem was simple and pure br Straight to the point...he was so sure br Who could argue his logic and verse? br He was second...his creator was first br His poem withstands the test of time br and it motivated me to write this rhyme br So poets unite...take your chances please br Joyce Kilmer never counted on plastic trees.
