Herbert Nehrlich - The Pelican (For Children)

A pelican sat by the pier br was waiting for some fish br he searched afar, he searched anear br and made a secret wish. br br He sat there one entire day br just hoping that his wishes br would be received without delay br so he could eat his fishes. br br But fishermen came from the city br and cast their lines and nets br they caught so many, what a pity br to feed them to their pets. br br And when the sun sank in the surf br and night was fast approaching br the pelican thought that on his turf br there ought to be no poaching. br br So, with the speed of Pelicans br he ruffled all his feathers br and looked just like the Taliban br the king of Afghan weather. br br Went over to the city slickers br and showed his giant beak br which did result in dirty nickers br he said: 'It's fish I seek'. br br Then shook his head in sudden rage br so everything went flying br and gobbled quickly, at this stage br the catch that he'd been eyeing. br br When he was full he turned around br slipped quickly into waves br and swam, then lifted off the ground br just thinking that the Braves br br would always rule the world of food br and that a handsome Pelican br was always in the happy mood br to take the fish away from man.
