Herbert Nehrlich - A Fire

It was so fulminating. br A fire burned within br from spindly kindling br and a breath of air br it sprang to life br consuming obstacles br and dull objections br and stark conventions. br Iit jumped all gaps br yet was not seen br by those who could br and bravely would br rise in defence br in bold offence. br So unexpected, br not wished for even, br it took on quickly br and without mercy br a life of egotistic br and autonomic br well, somewhat comic br and drooling presence. br So unprepared br so stunned and scared br yet breathing in br this deadly fragrance br and longing for br the nectar of br a soul ordained br for me alone br and nought is left br to say or do br we were as such br simply because br we had to be br it was a law br of nature br one which can not br be broken br by mere humans. br br A fire burns br so cleanly when br the darkness br of our doubts br is absent. br br And as I float br in saddened waves br of smoke and seek br those mirrors br which could give, br perhaps be saviours br for answers br from my soul br and heart br my tortured mind br does not perceive br what she must know, br perhaps relieved br and rescued in br the nick of love br from devastation. br br I miss you so br my heartease flower br but hope you will br not hear those words br or feel the heat br or smell the smoke. br And if you see br a distant fire br be not alarmed br the smoke has gone.
