Ivy Christou - Midnight thoughts

Ivy Christou - Midnight thoughts

The clock has just screamed twelve, br I don’t know why it sounds so loud br In this empty room with the scattered dreams br And the dead TV. br A tap is dripping in the background, br the cats outside are having a fight br and the minutes drag themselves around br to be replaced by crawling ones. br The dusted books on the self seem so far away br And in the magazines another superstar br Made the headlines because of his new affair. br I don’t know why I keep reading them, br Maybe because the newspapers are full br With political lies and deaths. br The city outside my window is not sleeping either, br The passing couple kiss underneath the stars, br The ducks sleep on the grass br And my Sleep is out there br Playing ‘hide and seek’. br Maybe I’ll wait for the dawn br And when my Sleep will finally return from its trip br My alarm will scream again to say br That another lonely night has passed br With out you by my side..
