Paul Lester - Let Me Be In Your B-Movie

Let me be in your B-movie br If only as an extra, br No role's too small for me. br As a bit part player br br I'd like a brief cameo role br Which modestly steals the show br As battling the World's Worst Crook br I'd get in some vital blow. br br Though all the scripts foretell br Before the last act br I was disposable, br I could live with that fact. br br I could be the one br Who lights a cigarette br By striking the match br With his teeth for a bet br br Or with firm set of jaw br And an earnest frown br I'd explain the law br As my pants fall down. br br I'd be the one who's mystified br And lost in the plot br But keeps, say, a talking toad br Or a crocodile that'll foxtrot. br br I wouldn't say no to a quote br From the bard to go out on; br But, above all, let me be one br Not easily forgotten - br br Perhaps there's no more br That on the whole br We extras can hope for br Before our last credits roll.
