Joe Guillotin - A walk in the door

A walk in the door br On this most solemn night br I sit- and I wait br br What comes in? br a wind, a song, an ebb of light br a leaf of autumn trait? br br All these things I do ignore br The door closed but once before br and opened but once again br br To wait for the walk in the door br from my long since absent friend br my constant, my companion. br br That night, a year ago br I stated to the affect br that we were stitched br by heart and soul at the seam br br My nerves did grow br as she paused in neglect br And gave her head a twitch br 'Whate'er do you mean? ' br br She laughed at the notion br as I poured out the purest emotion br br She had to leave, suddenly- urgently. br Grabbed her coat, her gloves br 'I'll be back in awhile..: br Out the door she did file br My one and only love. br br The door closed but once before br and opened but once again br br Now I sit- and I wait. br br A walk in the door br For her to pass through br and the razorwire br invisible to view.
