Some things never change br The smile on a mother’s face on seeing her new born br The first rays of sunlight after the dark night br The bustle of the crazy city life at peak time br A dog’s trusting brown eyes br Yet Hiroshima saw it all change br Like Iraq is seeing now br Is War the only eternal truth? br The one unchanging reality of humankind? br The mother still smiles in Hiroshima br The sun again comes out with joy br Once again people hurry on with urban existence br The dog still looks on with faith and trust br In Iraq too all will be well br One day br After the mad urge to destroy dies br Or takes birth in some other part of the world? br Like God delivers Death as the end br We, made in His reflection, also do our bit br To make sure peace is only a surreal break br To be enjoyed in between the angst br Of losing all by destruction br The Maker and the Made – we are part of the Whole br Some things never changebr br Devyani Prabhatbr br
