There is an ominous death tone br Ringing louder than a telephone br Set on maximum volume br For the near deaf br Or those still listening br From shallow graves. br Ear-piercing shrieks br Emanate from br Afternoon freaks br Gathering beneath rain clouds br To write murderous poetry, br Entangled in new vines br In the jungle of disturbed minds. br br I heard mutilated words br Spoken in schizophrenic confusion br While anger flared skyward, br Incandescent heat consuming br Sacred love and harmony; br The last tattered membranes br Of crippled reason br Were disintegrating br Like dried autumn leaves br Or an abandoned lover’s needs. br br Books were opening br And fluttering around br Like agitated birds, br While trapped ghosts, br Suspended in useless time, br Were frantically br Searching for holes br In the universe br Ever evolving into violence.
