Bill Smith - Secondhand Dreams

I listened as she spoke of love br She spoke as if she knew br She spoke of what could happen br I thought maybe that’s true br She spoke of far off places br Of mountains sun and sea br I listened rapt I wanted br A piece of this for me br She spoke of candlelit dinners br By beach and by moonlight br She spoke of nights of passion br She spoke of sheer delight br br My world was building around her br As if she’d wrote my dreams br She spoke of feet cooling br In crystal mountain streams br I flew on flights of fancy br I travelled far and wide br She spoke of our tomorrows br She turned an ebbing tide br br She spoke of poets, of authors br Books that she had read br She prised my soul open br She crept inside my head br She touched me with her tenderness br She warmed me with her smile br She spoke of our forever br Promised the extra mile br br She spoke of walls in China br Of palaces in France br Of spending time in Venice br Of masquerades and dance br She filled my heart with longing br She filled my eyes with love br She took me from the depths br She raised me high above br Who could ever doubt her? br Who would want her wrong? br She kissed the lips before her br She hummed her favourite song br br Her eyes became my lighthouse br They shone a path to hope br Her mouth became my future br With every word she spoke br When all talk was over br She took anothers hand br Eavesdropped on conversation br Dreams stolen secondhandbr br Bill Smithbr br
