Chuck Audette - An October Night (Halloween Poem)

the wind whispers br a wary warning br There was plenty, still br early this morning br br These primal urges br are hard to fight br an unholy diet br a dark appetite br br The pavement scrapes br with scuttling leaves br I'll pull the drapes br and hope to deceive br br The moon suffocates br in ominous clouds br shut off the lights br heart beats too loud br br then the neighbor's gate creaks br but its not the the wind br that seeks to feast br on fearing humans br br red brake lights br a car crawls by slow br the shadowy shapes br on my dark doorstep know br br that the empty window br of my house lies.. br the horrible truth br hides deep inside br br everything tonight br could have been just dandy br but now the demons have wrath - br Cause I ate all the candy! br br Happy Halloween! br br p.s. br I love dark humor! Here are some more of my Halloweendark poems & short ditties: br br The Werewolf Rap (Halloween Special) br Coming to my senses...
