Lucy Burrow - Farewell to Autumn

Lucy Burrow - Farewell to Autumn

I watched the sun dance through the trees br Leaping and dancing br In the dying days of Autumn; br Dodging the cold and damp of winter... br As he stole silently across the land, br Seeking out her dying rays br With sinewy fingers. br I saw a tree aflame with red and gold br And as she danced upon it br I saw the jewels of morning dew, br Entwined in threads of silver... br Soon to be frozen. br I followed deer tracks on the earth, br Softened by the drenching rain br Into shady hollows... br Ferned and green br Against the darkened canopy. br I watched my breath follow where she danced, br Like smoke, twisting br In the gathering wind. br And I bid farewell to her br As she danced into the sunset.... br Until Spring welcomes her home.
