Donna Nimmo - Hurricane Rita

Pine tree's standing oh so proud br The wind was blowing really loud br The red sand blowing every where br The pine trees breaking, I was there br They were snapping like a tooth pick br In Laporte they said get out quick br Me and three dogs, we had to leave br It's was a day's trip, you wouldn't believe br Never had driven out of the city br On the road forever, what a pity br Got to my brothers, late the next night br The storm had turned; we were all a fright br We couldn't stay in the trailer house br Wouldn't be safe for the smallest mouse br Cars broke down on each side of the road br Each carrying their belongings, what a load br Over heated and running out of gas br We all had to leave in such a great mass br We could only drive five miles per hour br Waiting for this storm, who would devour br Winds whipping and snapping the trees br Was much more than a summer breeze br Lights went out and heat began br We were so hot couldn't turn on a fan br Didn't have the gas to get back home br Sun so hot, like a mirror on chrome br Won't have gas for a month they said br It made you wonder why you fled br Husband came and brought me gasoline br Got home so fast, as if on caffeine br They all have electricity finally br That's where i'll go if I ever flee!br br Donna Nimmobr br
