Linda Hepner - Tsunami

Linda Hepner - Tsunami

Upon the beach I found a broken heart, br The wave had washed it up from far away, br Six thousand miles to be exact the start, br The merest tremor causing once a stray br br Stirring of the waters, strange unease... br The fish flee, omens of foreboding tides, br Escaping danger like a new disease, br Whilst rooted rippling seaweed slips and slides br br And there amongst the tendrils swims a girl br Tending her coral gardens and her love: br Suddenly shivers when she feels a swirl br And sees the surface turbulence above. br br The wave grows stronger and she tries awhile br To reach her little boat but it has gone, br Swept by the ocean to some distant isle, br Where sirens sing and place their booty on br br A high rock which they worship and adore br Oblivious to drowning cries and tears br Swallowed and battered on the ocean floor br Where fissures open, fiery lava sears br br Consuming all her self in mute despair, br Except her heart which carried by the storm br Cracked by the jagged rocks which cut and tear br It reached the beach quite broken but still warm. br br Upon the beach I found a broken heart, br The wave had washed it up from far away, br Six thousand miles, as they think the start, br A great tsunami, so the poets say.
