Tan Pratonix - African Rhythms

It was in Ruwenzor br I found the Bashan bull, br The purple-headed mount br Was bathed in misty blue. br A monitor lizard br Was feeding on an egg, br When suddenly there swooped br An eagle like a stone, br Crushing in the mud br A portly guinea-fowl. br br I saw the phoenix rise, br Its ashes swirling dust; br Pouring through a gorge br Milky-white opals. br The jungle roared in green br And ferns lept in the air; br The basilisk crept through br A crevice in the rocks, br And chameleons looked out, br Bursting into spray. br br A leopard's staring eyes br Flung upon a deer, br And savage fury torn br By hungry crocodiles. br I saw a viper creep br Through lions in the shade. br A row of parakeets br Fluttered in a wave br And stormed a gorilla br Among the luscious fruit. br br I saw huge elephants br Behind a splash of fronds; br Flaming honey bees; br The hippos in the stream br Skimmed by dragonflies; br A crowd of ibises; br A galaxy of stars; br Echoing in the night br From the top there poured br A glacier of ice.
